The year 2025 closes for general publishing (non-fiction and fiction) with three million fewer printed books purchased by Italians through trade channels (bookstores, online, and large retailers). In fact, 99.5 million copies were purchased in the twelve months, down 3% compared to 2024. In terms of value, the decline was 2.1%, with €32.6 million less in purchases out of a total of €1,483.9 million. The data was presented on the final day of the “XLIII Advanced Seminar of the Umberto and Elisabetta Mauri School for Booksellers” in Venice.
